The AGM will be on Wednesday 7th May, starting at 7.30pm. The Leamington League Lightning Tournament was held at Solihull CC on 23rd April, ably run by Richard Reynolds of Olton Chess Club. For the first time in recent memory it was not won by an Olton player. Click here for the final standings. Birmingham LeagueThe Birmingham League was founded in 1897 and is the oldest chess league in the country. It has six divisions and includes teams from many parts of the West Midlands, Staffordshire and Worcestershire. Matches are played over six boards, except for Division 6 which is four boards. The usual time contol is 30 moves in 75 minutes, followed either by adjournment or a quickplay finish depending on each team's preference. The official start time for our home matches is 7.15pm. Other clubs may vary between 7.00pm and 7.30pm. Solihull has entered two teams for the 2007-8 season: First Team (Division 2) Promoted! Second Team (Division 4) Promoted! Click here for results, tables and bulletins from the BDCL website. Leamington LeagueThe Leamington League draws teams from Birmingham, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Matches in Divisions 1 and 2 are played over four boards, and in Divisions 3 and 4 over three boards (five boards in the KO Cups, except the U100 which is four boards). The time control is 35 moves in 75 minutes followed by a 15-minute quickplay finish. There are no adjournments. The start time for all matches in the league's competitions is 7.30pm.
